So often, people with certain medical conditions are forced to take prescription medications that they don't want. While the medication can help some of their symptoms, there are some health conditions that could be helped without pharmaceuticals. Here are three health conditions that can be helped with chiropractic care.

1. Chronic tension headaches.

Having chronic tension headaches can be a pain in the neck - literally. If you suffer from tension headaches regularly, you should consider seeing a chiropractor. Some studies have shown patients have seen improvement in their tension headache symptoms after getting spinal manipulation treatment from their chiropractor. Not only has it provided immediate improvement in tension headache symptoms, but the relief has lasted much longer than the relief that comes from medication.

Not only can your chiropractor offer treatment to relieve your chronic tension headaches, but they can also help you figure out ways to avoid getting them in the future. They can assess your posture when sitting and even suggest different pillows to try when you sleep to help keep the tension headaches at bay.

2. Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS).

One of the biggest reasons for female infertility is having PCOS. With PCOS, instead of the ovary releasing an egg to be fertilized in the uterus, the egg remains in the ovary and eventually turns into a cyst. This is caused by a hormonal imbalance, usually with the overproduction of male hormones called androgens.

As you can imagine, some women experience extreme pain as a result of the cysts on their ovaries. While chiropractic care should never replace being seen by a regular doctor for PCOS, it can help relieve some of the pain in the lower back that comes with the condition. It can also help your body feel more relaxed and not so tense and in pain all of the time.

Again, you will still need to see your regular doctor and even a fertility specialist to round out your care, but getting chiropractic treatment can help you avoid taking pain relievers on a regular basis.

3. ADHD.

Many parents of children who have ADHD worry about the medications they have to take. It is not surprising that a lot of parents would want to find alternative ADHD treatments for their kids. One alternative treatment option is chiropractic care

Pediatric chiropractic care for children with ADHD focuses on calming the nervous system. Experts contend that children with ADHD have nervous systems that are overstimulated, which can cause them to act erratically and have difficulty with concentration. The pediatric chiropractor uses gentle manipulation for adjustments to help calm the child's nervous system down.

Of course, you should never just take your child off of their ADHD medication without consulting with their doctor first. However, if you find that chiropractic care is helping your child's ADHD symptoms much better than their medication, you should definitely discuss the possibility of weaning them off of it for a trial period. Doing so will help you determine if the chiropractic care is enough treatment for your child or if they still need their ADHD medication.
